
City prosecutors in Whitefish, Montana have charged Jay Snowden with disorderly conduct after a video showed him berating peaceful protesters last week. In the now viral video, Snowden can be seen cursing at protesters. Furthermore, he knocks signs out of people’s hands and appears to yell at a celrgyman. In response to Snowden’s violent outburst, protesters managed to keep their focus and not react.
“Peaceful,” the crowd chanted.
Not long after the incident, the Whitefish Police Department issued a statement regarding the matter. The city’s police force condemned Snowden’s actions and announced that he would be charged with disorderly conduct.
“During last night’s protest an individual became confrontational with the protestors and police intervened, removing the individual from the scene. The subject, Jay Snowden 51 of Whitefish, was charged with one count of disorderly conduct this morning after Whitefish Police consulted with the Whitefish city prosecutor. Snowden has an initial court date of June 17, 2020,” Whitefish Police Department stated.
“The City of Whitefish is dedicated to protecting the First Amendment rights of individuals to peacefully protest and ask all who are involved to respect each other’s rights and protest peacefully,” the department continued.
Snowden will appear in court on June 17, 2020. He has not publicly issued a statement regarding the matter as of yet.
