Fresh off of releasing the tracklist for his new album and the video for the lead single, Jay Rock has just dropped the intro track for Redemption. The three minute track is a three minute banger that will definitely set the tone for the rest of the album. If this is any indication of what is to come next Friday, then we’re in for an incredible album from TDE‘s eldest member.
On the first verse, Jay Rock starts off slow by rapping, “The devil thought he had me/I was on back burners/Moon walking fast/Y’all are going to respect my journey/Evil tapping in like the feds are watching.” On the second verse, Jay Rock hits a nice pocket and starts going off when he says, “Battle scars and tribulations/Downfall from situations/I bounced off with dedication/That counted for my participation/Gettin’ pounds off/Gettin’ rounds off/Gettin’ blocks back/I facilitated.” Rock closes off the song by singing in auto-tune. Rock sings, “Locked and loaded/I control it/Rock and rollin’/I thought you noticed/I’m the coldest.”
We’re only a week away from Jay Rock’s Redemption album and anticipation seems to be building. With features from J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar coupled with intros like this, it’s sure to be great project. Alongside the release of the new Nas album, June 15th is sure to be a great day in rap. Check back on Friday for the full album stream.
