On Monday, Kevin Smith took to Instagram so he could celebrate with his fans. One year ago Monday, on February 25th, 2018, Kevin Smith suffered a near-fatal heart attack and underwent emergency surgery to save his life. Not only was he celebrating that, but Smith was also celebrating the first day of filming on his upcoming Jay and Silent Bob reboot.
In his post, Smith talks about running lines with Jason Lee and Jason Mewes on Sunday night during the Oscars. In a particularly touching line, he even states “I couldn’t help but feel relief when the ‘In Memoriam’ montage ended and I wasn’t in it.” He goes on to heap praise on both Lee and Mewes before offering a little tidbit into what they filmed the first day. Check out his full post below:
The Jay and Silent Bob reboot will serve as a sequel to the duo’s 2001 outing, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It will apparently follow the two stoners as they return to Hollywood and try to stop a remake of the Bluntman and Chronic film they originally tried to stop in Strike Back. Obviously, Smith and Mewes are returning to reprise their roles, with Lee also set to appear. No official word on the rest of the cast has been released but Smith has promised plenty of cameos from some familiar faces.
The Jay and Silent Bob reboot has yet to receive a release date.
