The Houston Rockets have informed Jason Terry they will not be bringing him back on a new deal, Terry confirmed to SiriusXM NBA Radio Wednesday evening:

In 72 appearances with the Rockets last season, Jason Terry averaged 5.9 points and 1.1 assists in 17.5 minutes per game. Terry shot 40% from the field, and 36% from behind the arc.
Terry, a 17-year veteran point guard that has made stops with Atlanta, Dallas, Boston, Brooklyn, and Houston, still brings an outside scoring ability and veteran presence that contending teams value.
Terry won an NBA Championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011, averaging 15.8 points and playing a key role in helping the Mavericks defeat the Miami Heat 4-2 in the Finals.
Known as one of the greatest long-range marksman in league history, Terry currently sits at third for most three-point field goals ever made, making a total of 2,169 threes in his career. Only Ray Allen and Reggie Miller sit ahead of him, with both names widely considered as top-5 long-range shooters to ever play the game.
For Terry, he was traded from Brooklyn to Houston back in November, 2014. Terry spent two seasons with the Rockets, mostly coming off the bench for the likes of defensive-prowess Patrick Beverley.
Houston, who’s lost Dwight Howard and made signings of Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson this offseason, is changing up its roster for the coming season. Jason Terry apparently isn’t a part of the Rockets’ future plans.
The NBA’s 2009 Sixth Man of the Year now has a tough choice to make. Terry could opt to join fellow 90’s draftees Kobe Bryant and Tim Duncan in retirement, or he could return to the league and sign a veteran’s minimum deal with another interested club.
Teams like Minnesota, who have been known to bring in veteran players to help coach their youth, or teams like Toronto, who could use the veteran leadership and experience Terry brings to battle the class of the East Cleveland Cavaliers next season, could be calling Terry in the coming days. Golden State, Los Angeles Clippers, the Boston Celtics — Expect numerous teams to take a look at Terry. Some of these teams like the Clippers, are out of cap space and would need to get creative to acquire him.
Dallas could also come calling, as many speculate. Terry prefers to play again next season and is indeed open to returning to the Mavericks, again, not ruling out any possibility.
Terry will be listening, as no official decision has been made on whether or not he will retire.
