Jason Terry has agreed to stay with the Houston Rockets for one more year, according to Shams Charania of RealGM. The 37 year old will reportedly sign a one year, $1.5 million deal. He will reportedly make the signing official on Wednesday, after giving it final thoughts. Terry had previously been rumored to join the New Orleans Pelicans after contract talks had fallen through with the Rockets.
Bringing Terry back is an important part of the Rockets’ offseason. After sending away both Pablo Prigioni and Nick Johnson in the Ty Lawson trade, they had a noticeable lack of depth in the backcourt with Lawson, Patrick Beverley, and James Harden as the only viable options to play big minutes. Terry will assume the role of backup shooting guard and in-case-of-emergency third-string point guard. His three-point shooting will be a crucial part of the Rockets’ pace-and-space offense making the signing all the more important. With Jason Terry back on board, the Rockets will look to improve upon a great 2014-15 season with a noticeably upgraded roster.
It might be the last run for Jason Terry in the NBA so as he always does, expect ‘The Jet’ to leave it all out on the court, one last time.
