He has had a great career dropping threes and being one of the most solid players in the game. Jason Terry AKA ‘The Jet’ is most likely going to be in the NBA for another year and will hang it up for good. Now that isn’t 100% locked in but Jason Terry clearly wants to end his career with a chance for a deep Playoff run, potentially a ring.
He recently spoke to the Dallas Morning News about the future of his career and yes, the Dallas Mavericks were mentioned.
“Not retiring at all,” he said. “Just looking for another opportunity to get back on a contender. But if that opportunity doesn’t present itself, still being able to go in and have an impact in the locker room on the younger players and provide quality minutes off the bench. My body feels great. My mind is still sharp.”
He said he’d be open to the idea of returning to Dallas to finish his career. But he’s looking for the best situation not only in terms of being on a legitimate contender, but also in looking toward the future.
“In preparing for my post-playing career, I want to be able to shadow the coach and shadow the GM,” Terry said. “That’s important to me.”
It seems as if Terry is really looking into furthering his career as a head coach, something that Mark Cuban endorsed JT for a few weeks ago. I can’t wait to see what he can do and if he leaves Houston or stays with Houston I hope he gets the knowledge he’s looking for.
