The Washington Wizards have agreed to a three-year, $16 million deal with free agent center Jason Smith, as reported by Shams Charania of The Vertical.
Smith, a 30-year-old 7-footer, played 15 games for the Orlando Magic this past season, averaging 7.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game. Going into his tenth season, the Wizards will mark as Smith’s fifth NBA team since being drafted 20th overall in 2007.
Philadelphia, New Orleans, New York and Orlando were Smith’s last four stops. He joins a Wizards team that was looking for another body to have available in their front court. They just signed Ian Mahinmi to a four-year, $64 million deal in that same regard, along with signing forward Andrew Nicholson. Smith is a tough and reliable veteran for the Wizards depth chart.
