Medical reports for Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul continue to build for the 26 year old. After learning about Jason Pierre-Paul’s amputated finger NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones added to an already painful injury list.

Obviously functioning without a finger will be hard enough but his recent thumb injury just puts another damper into the situation. Pierre-Paul opted to remove the finger in order to get on the field faster because leaving it in tact would have furthered the rehabilitation process with more surgeries set up down the line.
The thumb on the other hand could take up to 6 weeks to heal. It’s unclear whether the thumb will mitigate any rehab with his hand but expect JPP to be placed on the non-football injury list to start the season. The Giants can opt not to pay him since he was injured in an accident off the field. Pierre-Paul is expected to be released from the hospital in the coming days as we should be able to gauge a more accurate return time frame at that time. The former first round pick has yet to sign his franchise tender from this offseason.
