After last night’s Milwaukee Bucks loss to the Brooklyn Nets, in a triple overtime thriller, the Bucks have now lost 12 of their last 16 games and they’re slipping closer to that 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. They’re 34-35 and sit a game and a half above the seventh seeded Miami Heat.
It seems like their coach, Jason Kidd, isn’t too worried about his plan for his team, he’s more invested in growing something great, not getting a quick fix for a temporary gain.
Following from Devin Kharpertian of The Brooklyn Game.
They’ve lost 11 of 15 games since the break heading into Friday night, and sit in the sixth seed with a 34-34 record. Kidd did not see it as a problem. “We’re getting better every time we play, winning or losing,” Kidd said. “We had two good looks, two wide open looks. We learn from missed shots, we learn from making winning shots so we’re not trending down.”
“Sometimes you’ve got to look in front of you. … We’re here to build something, not to do something in six months,” Kidd said. “This is a bigger picture so we feel that we have a core here that will be around a long time and have success.”
“You have to show more film (to younger guys),” Kidd said. “You have to spend a little more time on the floor, because there’s just not enough minutes under some of the guys’ belts when you talk about 20 years old. they just haven’t had enough of seeing what’s in front of them until they strike 22 or 23 years old, then you can say they maybe have seen a lot of things that an 18-, 19-year old hasn’t seen before.”
The trade that sent Brandon Knight to the Phoenix Suns and in return brought Michael Carter-Williams to Milwaukee raised a few eyebrows. Now we see why, due to the Bucks recent struggles the trade is put under the microscope. Kidd is taking a subtle shot possibly at Nets management, who famously traded for players that were past their primes to try and get a ‘win now’ type of team but it didn’t work at all.
Jason Kidd isn’t panicking and neither should the Bucks or their fans. The team will be just fine and Milwaukee will be in the playoffs. They’ll get out of this funk, hopefully, in time for the playoffs to begin.
13 more games, Milwaukee.
