Greg Monroe’s future with the Milwaukee Bucks is still in limbo. The big man was somewhat disappointing in his first year with the Bucks. Despite putting up good individual stats, his fit with the team and his overall deficient defense did not make for a good combo.
Monroe has been in trade talks for a while but it doesn’t appear as though Milwaukee has received the value it would like to get in return. For now, they will have to make do with the big man staying on board.
But it appears as though Monroe won’t be a huge part for the Bucks this season, at least according to head coach Jason Kidd at media day:
Kidd said he plans to bring Monroe and Carter-Williams off the bench; Let the games begin.

That makes sense. The Bucks could start John Henson who’s a better defender and a good rim-runner. He won’t need the ball in his hands as often as Monroe who could theoretically dominate it against bench units.
That said, the Bucks may have found themselves in a bit of a situation:
When a reporter told Monroe that Kidd had told the media he would be coming off the bench, Monroe said, "That's news to me.''

Awwwwkward.
Greg Monroe won’t really have a choice with this. Even if he’s upset and wants a trade, well, the Bucks kind of want that too. At worst, the two sides move on. But at best, they find a way to coexist and Monroe’s skills shine without hurting the team elsewhere.
