The Cowboys and Jason Garrett are close to a 5 year contract for Garrett to remain the head coach. A team source told ESPN’s Ed Werder of the deal: “It’s not done, but close.” The Dallas Cowboys were 12-4 this year becoming legitimate title contenders.
The three seasons prior under Garrett, Dallas went 8-8 all three years. Garrett has a modest 41-31 career record needing just 4 wins next season to pass Jimmie Johnson in team history.
Garrett was actually a backup quarterback for Dallas for seven seasons from 1993-1999. The Cowboys will now have the offseason to look forward to. Dez Bryant and Demarco Murray are scheduled to become unrestricted free agents.
The Cowboys will hold the 27th overall pick in this years NFL Draft.
