Rising welterweight Jaron “Boots” Ennis made an emphatic return on the undercard of Jamal James-Radzhab Butaev. In the opening round, Ennis struck Thomas Dulorme with a thunderous anchor punch that put him down. Dulorme was able to beat the count, but Ennis finish the job with a powerful pair of right hands before finishing the job with the left.
“No one man should have all that power,” Mauro Ranallo said as he referenced Kanye West’s classic 2010 track.
Dulorme was unable to get himself together after the second knockout and the referee called the fight to a close. With this performance, Ennis earns his 11th first round knockout and his 26th career finish.
Moving to an unbeaten record of 28-0, Ennis puts himself in position to fight any of the titleholders at 147 pounds in 2022. IBF and WBC Welterweight titles Errol Spence Jr. is out for the moment with an eye injury, but he will look to be back in the new year. Meanwhile, the winner of Terence Crawford-Shawn Porter hopes to have another big fight in the new year. Not to mention, WBA Welterweight Champion Yordenis Ugas will fight the winner of James-Butaev. Regardless of who he fights next, Ennis will present major problems for his opponent.
