Two teams that were involved in a big three team deal centered around Jeff Green, faced off against each other. Jared Sullinger had 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Celtics, Marcus Smart made a key 3-pointer in the closing minute falling away as the shot clock expired, and the Boston Celtics beat the New Orleans Pelicans 108-100.
Jae Crowder added a career-high 22 points to go along with Sullinger’s output. Marcus Thornton had 13 and Brandon Bass scored 12 as both players came off the bench for Boston. Avery Bradley and Evan Turner scored 10 points each with Turner also putting in 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the C’s.
Anthony Davis led the Pelicans with 34 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists on the night. Eric Gordon scored 21 points and Tyreke Evans 19 with 8 boards coming off the bench for the Pelicans.
With a late 101-100 lead, Avery Bradley’s shot was blocked by Davis in the lane, before Smart made a fadeaway 3 from the left corner, falling into the seats as the shot clock expired and only with 39.7 seconds left to essentially seal the deal for the Celtics at home who achieved only their third win in the last 12 games.
The Celtics are making some moves and have made some trades as of late that make no one on the roster feel safe.
New Orleans Pelicans are 18-19. Boston Celtics are 13-23.
