Former Alabama star JaMychal Green is signing a 10-day contract with the San Antonio Spurs.
To make room for Green, the Spurs are waiving Austin Daye, who scored 22 points and pulled down 10 rebounds last week against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The former Gonzaga standout was averaging four points and just over two rebounds in 26 games.
The 6″9 220 pound Green was an invite to Spurs training camp but was cut on October 22nd. He was most recently playing with the Spurs D-League team, the Austin Spurs, where he averaged 23 points and 10.7 rebounds per game while shooting 58.5% from the field.
Marcus Spears of Yahoo Sports was reporting that many teams were interested in Green’s services, including the Grizzlies and Bulls, but ended up staying in the state of Texas and signing with the Spurs.
Green should see significant minutes off the bench, something that Austin Daye couldn’t constantly get during his time in San Antonio.
