Green suffered the injury during the Grizzlies home opener against the New Orleans Pelicans. Green did not return to the game. Green played all of four minutes of the new season before landing on his ankle.
David Aldridge reports that Green could miss 3-4 weeks,
MRI on @Jmyke1 shows high ankle sprain/bone bruise, but no ligament damage. Out 3-4 weeks, per source. Not good, but at least he’ll be back.

The team scheduled an MRI for Thursday morning; it was then when the team learned of the severity of the injury. Green, who signed a two-year extension to remain with the Grizzlies, is a part of the vision the team has for how they want to move forward.
Now that the Grit ‘N Grind era is over in Memphis, the team is looking to trend in the direction of the rest of the league. Last season, Green impressed the team with an ability to man the power forward position and still help to stretch the floor. The bouncy Green is also an excellent complement to the sturdy Marc Gasol in the frontcourt.
The Grizzlies want to keep up with the times while also maintaining the defense that they made a staple. The 27-year-old Green shot 37% from three last season and played solid defense for Memphis. His versatility at the 4-spot for the team will be missed. With no Zach Randolph – he signed a two-year deal with the Kings – the Grizzlies will suffer from a lack of depth for a while.
Memphis will need to batten down the hatches on defense while Green is on the mend. There have been multiple injuries to begin this NBA season. Green’s looks to be on the milder side, but time will tell how the injury impact the Grizzlies’ season.
