The Golden State Warriors have made the biggest splash of their free agency period on Friday. The team is re-signing big man James Michael McAdoo to a one year deal, according to Marc Spears of The Undefeated.

McAdoo was an end-of-the-rotation player for the Warriors last season. The power forward played in only 41 games last season, averaging 6.4 minutes per contest.
Nevertheless, McAdoo found himself playing a bigger role as he was thrust into the rotation in the Finals. Despite not playing much, the big man did show some productivity on the floor. McAdoo’s athleticism and rebounding prowess were crucial for the Dubs in those few games.
This deal is likely for the minimum, so the Warriors are banking on keeping some consistency with their roster. After a large turnover due to the Kevin Durant signing, any amount of players staying on board from the last two Finals teams is needed.
McAdoo won’t do much for the Warriors, but he is good insurance in the event of injury. As it stands now, he may be the backup center with both Andrew Bogut and Festus Ezeli gone. Draymond Green will likely receive a large portion of backup center minutes behind Zaza Pachulia, but we should expect to see more of McAdoo in that role, as well.
