Coming off a prolific season in which many expect him to take home the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award, James Harden can add another accolade to his resume before then.
Along with the annual NBA awards, the Players Association holds their own awards, which are voted on by fellow NBA players. This year, the players voted for none other than James Harden as their MVP as was announced on the Players Association Twitter account:

Though James Harden has never been able to secure a legitimate NBA MVP before, this will be his second time taking home the honor from his peers, an accomplishment that should not go overlooked.
Though Harden is the frontrunner for MVP this season, there’s no guarantee he will win it. LeBron James pieced together another stellar campaign in his fifteenth season while Pelicans big man Anthony Davis entered the conversation as a legit candidate late in the season.
However, what Harden did for his Houston Rockets this season is unmatched, carrying them to the top seed in a daunting Western Conference. Of course, he had the help of backcourt mate Chris Paul and the continued development of Clint Capela did wonders for their interior game, but Harden was the engine to a historic Houston offense.
With Harden being named the MVP of the Players Association awards, we will still have to wait a few weeks to see the official NBA awards. The 2018 NBA Award show is scheduled for June 25th at 9 PM on TNT.
