The Houston Rockets had the most disappointing season in the NBA, and still managed to slip into the playoffs. With a solid chance that Dwight Howard leaves the team in free agency, the Rockets will have cap space to go after big-name players. James Harden, the team’s superstar shooting guard, will have a say in the team’s signings this summer, reports Calvin Watkins of ESPN:
Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said James Harden will have a voice when it comes to free agency signings.

One big name that the Rockets(along with just about every other NBA team) will reportedly target is Kevin Durant. Harden and Durant played together in Oklahoma City from the 2009-10 season to the 2011-12 season –the first three years of Harden’s career. This could be a big-time factor in the team’s odds of landing Durant, but I still wouldn’t say their odds are good. Every team’s going to be trying to sign Durant, and the fit of Harden and Durant –two ball-dominant score-first stars–is questionable.
Other notable free agents that Houston could target this offseason(particularly if Dwight Howard decides to leave) include Al Horford, Hassan Whiteside, Nic Batum, Ryan Anderson, Rajon Rondo, and Mike Conley.
