The Brooklyn Nets are trading James Harden and Paul Milsap to the Philadelphia 76ers for Ben Simons, Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and two first-round draft picks. Those two draft picks will be an unprotected 2022 first-round selection and a 2027 protected first-round selection. While the Philadelphia 76ers had been looking for a trade partner for Ben Simmons for months, the Nets only recently became willing to trade their All-Star guard.

The drama this season surrounding Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers has been well documented. General Manager Daryl Morey made it clear he wouldn’t be trading the disgruntled All-Star unless it was for a top NBA talent. James Harden is unarguably that level of talent. He will now be paired with All-NBA big man Joel Embiid. Ben Simmons will pair with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Paul Milsap had also made it clear he wanted out of Brooklyn.

A sticking point for both teams for a period was centered around 76ers wing Matisse Thybulle, but in the end, the Nets settled for Seth Curry, Andre Drummond, and the two first-round picks. With a limited amount of time left before the 2022 NBA Trade Deadline, the Nets and 76ers may attempt to make smaller trades to sharpen up their rosters to close out the season. Def Pen Sports will continue to report on any trades that happen before this year’s deadline.
