Midseason MVP Candidate James Harden has taken on all opponents and for the most part, gave them all a lesson in how talented Harden really is. There is one team though that might be Harden’s kryptonite.
The Houston Rockets star has a career scoring mark of 13 points per game against the Los Angeles Clippers, a career worst against any team.
And last night, although the Rockets pulled off a win against the Clippers, the Rockets All-Star went down with an injury.
Following from Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle
James Harden sprained his right ankle when stepping on Chris Paul’s foot, which caused him to crumble to the floor.
Paul stayed in the game with just 3:57 remaining in the fourth quarter.
“It looked like he sprained it pretty bad, looking at it,” Kevin McHale said. “He’s a tough young man. He takes a lot of beating. He’s on the floor a lot. He gets knocked down. He’s very resilient. He just sucked it up and played. He brought it home.”
Harden left the arena limping badly.
“It’s pretty sore right now,” Harden said. “I’ll get some rest, ice it, get some rest tomorrow and hopefully be ready to go Friday. I just got up and walked it off.”
Harden struggled early, starting the game 0-6 and didn’t finish the game off strong scoring 21 points, which is below his league leading 27 points per game.
This possible injury to Harden is just the recent in a long line of stars that went down at one point this season for one reason or another. Harden’s situation will have to be monitored now, hopefully he won’t go down for an extended amount of time.
Especially when the Rockets don’t have Dwight Howard still due to his injury.
