The NBA regular season starts in 21 days, and James Harden is already giving us plenty to be excited for.
After a excellent 2014-2015 campaign where he averaged 27.4 points, 7.0 assists and 5.7 rebounds, he’s looking to build and improve his game and show us why he thought, and still thinks he is the best in player the NBA.
Per NBA.com and SlamOnline.com:
“You don’t think I can do more?” Harden asks. “Just wait. I’ll show you.” […] “I am the best player in the league. I believe that,” he said. “I thought I was last year, too.”
“I know I was the MVP,” Harden said. “That’s 100 percent given all the things that happened last season. Credit the Golden State Warriors for an unbelievable year. They had an unbelievable team, coaching staff, everything. But that award means most valuable to your team. We finished second in the West, which nobody thought we were going to do at the beginning of the year even when everybody was healthy. We were near the top in having the most injuries. We won our division in a division where every single team made the playoffs. There’s so many factors. I led the league in total points scored, minutes played. Like I said, I’m not taking anything away from Steph, but I felt I deserved the Most Valuable Player. That stays with me.”
James Harden has a legit point. He led the league in total points, minutes played, was the top play maker at the shooting guard position, and carried the Houston Rockets to 2 seed and western conference finals. Harden did a lot of his damage without his all-star teammate Dwight Howard, and for stretches he was without key role players Patrick Beverly, Donatas Motiejunas, and Terrence Jones. To put the cherry on top Adidas showed their belief in him by giving him a fat endorsement deal and nice welcome to Adidas present.
When Harden puts thing into perspective it’s hard to argue with him. Him losing to Steph Curry (last years MVP) and the Warriors in the WCF is probably the only knock against him.
Harden and the Rockets have their work cut out for them this year, the Warriors are looking just as good this preseason as they did in game 6 of the finals last year.
