James Franco has stated that he was unaware of his cameo in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Franco’s character from Rise of the Planet of the Apes will make a posthumous appearance on video in the upcoming sequel.
According to The Wrap, Franco found out during a recent interview with EW saying:
“Wait, I have a cameo? I didn’t know that. You know, I don’t even think they asked my permission for that.”
It is speculated that the footage of Franco is believed to have been filmed during the previous movie, but believed to have been lost following the departure of director Rupert Sanders.
The footage shows him as scientist Will Rodman, who created the first of the genius apes, as well as accidentally unleashing a virus that kills the majority of humanity, including himself.
The Matt Reeves-directed sequel stars Gary Oldman, Keri Russell and Andy Serkis.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will open on July 11.
