Unfortunately, the New York Knicks are making headlines lately and it has nothing to do with their on-court play. Wednesday night during their matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, Knicks legend Charles Oakley was involved in an altercation with Madison Square Garden security. Once asked to leave by security, Oakley seemingly got into a shoving match with security and was eventually escorted towards the tunnel.
The fiasco that was Oakley versus security all took place just a few rows from owner James Dolan. The rift between Dolan and Oakley has said to have gone on for some time now and the altercation may have boiled over from Oakley’s frustrations with Dolan.
As a result of this, James Dolan has taken action and fired his top Security Chief at MSG.

Frank Benedetto, the senior vice president for security at the Madison Square Garden Company, was fired Friday morning, a source said.
The move comes two days after Oakley became embroiled in a pushing and shoving match with security personnel just a few rows behind Dolan’s courtside seats and was hauled off and arrested by the NYPD in front of TV cameras. Backlash from Knicks fans and NBA players shocked at Oakley’s treatment was swift and fierce.
Whether it was warranted or not James Dolan had to make a decision because the New York Knicks organization were facing a multitude of criticism for their handling of the situation.
