The Buccaneers announced recently that the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Jameis Winston, will become their starting quarterback. This did not come easy for the 6’4″ 230 pound athlete. He had to maintain his focus to prove he has what it takes to lead the Buccaneers. Winston did do some second-team work but he mostly worked with the starters.

“I would never put a guy in that position if he wasn’t ready for that,” Smith said.
Winston has turned out to be everything the Bucs were wanting when they decided to draft him out of Florida State. He seems to be learning the offense very well and showing good chemistry with the Bucs star receivers, Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans. The chemistry compatibility is good news to hear from the young quarterback, especially considering his shady past affecting perception of who he is. The Bucs have known from day one that his past wasn’t a problem for them.

“If he wasn’t a good guy, we wouldn’t have used the first pick on him,” said General Manger Jason Licht.
He put his past behind him, and he is ready to take on the leadership role the quarterback position comes with. Although, the franchise is still in rebuilding mode they seem confident with Winston as their quarterback.
