Both top quarterback prospects Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota will throw at this years scouting combine. Both players have some question marks behind their name so participating is the best course of action.
Mariota has questions surrounding his pocket presence and deep passing. Much of Oregon’s offense is predicated on dump offs to short passing targets. Reportedly the decision to throw was not an easy one due to his injury in the national championship game.
From what I was told, Mariota’s decision was easy once he was secure his shoulder would not be a problem. It isn’t.

The decision on whether to throw or not can be vital in terms of draft selection. Last year Teddy Bridgewater opted not to throw and slipped to the 2nd round. Blake Bortles on the other hand performed admirably and skyrocketed to the number three overall pick. The on the field drills start Friday at 9:00 am on NFL Network.
