Jameer Nelson’s off season has been very quiet since being waived by Orlando, but Nelson has finally found a landing spot in Dallas. Dallas has taken the first step in filling out its roster by coming to an agreement with the 10 year veteran. The Mavericks are getting a steal if they do in fact sign Nelson for the reported $2.7 million. Nelson provides the team with consistent 10-12 PPG and has displayed pretty good court vision in his NBA career. Nelson is expected to meet with Dallas tomorrow and come to terms with the team According to Yahoo Sports Marc Spears.
Nelson may be the front runner for the starting Point Guard spot with his competition set at Devin Harris and Raymond Felton. This is the best landing spot for Nelson in my opinion mainly because of Head Coach Rick Carlisle. Carlisle gets the most out of each and every player on his roster and puts them in position to succeed. Nelson should have no problem taking over the starting job in my opinion. I think Devin Harris is a better fit for the team coming off the bench and Raymond Felton is well..he’s Raymond Felton.
Dallas has put in a pretty successful off season after missing out on a super star they’ve made signings that should make this team exciting to watch by putting out a starting line up of Nelson, Ellis, Parsons, Nowitzki, and Tyson Chandler.
Nelson this past season passed Shaq for fourth all time in scoring for the Orlando Magic.
