After Jamaal Charles had back-to-back seasons riddled with injuries, the Kansas City Chiefs elected to release their franchise leading rusher after the season came to an end. The Chiefs decided to move on from the back after he went through two ACL tears and a meniscus tear throughout his nine-year tenure in the NFL.
The 30-year-old four-time Pro Bowl running back and three-time All-Pro might have a little bit left in the tank and you could expect he’s looking to prove doubters wrong. In an effort to do that, Charles has reportedly decided to join a rival of the Chiefs, a team looking for a playmaker coming out of the backfield. The Denver Broncos have elected to sign Charles to a one-year deal.

Charles led the NFL in touchdowns back in 2013 and 2014 was the final season in which he rushed for over 1,000 yards. He’s totaled 83 attempts with 404 rushing yards in eight games played over the last two seasons. Still, despite his recent injury issues, if he’s healthy, Charles could be the starting back for Denver for week 1. The prospects of having a speedy and crafty Charles combined with the power rushing of C.J. Anderson could equate for a dynamic rushing attack in Denver with young back Devontae Booker waiting in the wings for his shot. But as always with Charles, health will be the primary concern.
