International big man out of the University of Utah, Jakob Poeltl has decided to leave school after his sophomore season. Standing at over seven feet tall and originally being from across the pond, many people expect him to be like Dirk Nowitzki, Kristaps Porzingis or even fellow international 2016 NBA Draft prospect Dragan Bender with an ability to stretch the floor but he’s not quite there yet. He’s a traditional big with a strong presence inside, a solid nose for the ball on defense and he elected to announce his decision to leave school by holding a press conference and announcing his decision through his school.

Poeltl is compared to fellow Utah Utes great Andrew Bogut, courtesy of NBAdraft.net and he’s projected to go 10th in their mock draft and on Tankathon, the big man is projected to fall only to 11th. We also have him going in the lottery in our mock draft.
Either way, it’s a great time for him to come out. With such an emphasis on spacing the floor and making sure your big men can shoot the ball, Poeltl is a nice change to an always changing NBA landscape.
