Jahlil Okafor is certainly ready to take this season on and prove me wrong. Yes I think he’s overrated, I just didn’t find him as impressive in College.
But he’s been playing well during the summer and everytime he talks to the media, he seems determined and confident despite being a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. He recently spoke to CSNPhilly about his goals for his Rookie season.
“For myself, before the season I just need to make sure I’m prepared. I don’t know what to expect, I’ve never played in the NBA, but Rookie of the Year is one of my goals I’ve set for myself, my personal achievements. As for the team, I want to get better. We’re a rebuilding team right now, but (we should) go out there every day and compete.”
He certainly has a chance to win Rookie of the Year. I mean the people that win Rookie of the Year are the players that A. Get starters minutes and B. Is a good basketball player.
In terms of Jahlil winning the award. I think Karl-Anthony Towns will have something to say about that. And there’s also Emmanuel Mudiay and D’Angelo Russell of course. Jahlil will have some competition throughout the season, we’ll see whether he’s got the goods.
