In his first taste of NBA action, no. 2 overall draft pick Jahlil Okafor posted 20 points and 9 rebounds for the Philadelphia 76ers in a 74-71 loss to the Spurs.
Okafor shot 10-for-22 from the field and had 1 assist. Needless to say, he was very aggressive. Okafor had the strong, commanding, and skilled presence we saw at Duke in his freshman season. His greatest asset is his comfortability with the ball on the block, and he put that on complete display. There’s no telling how good Okafor can be. He seems to be settling in pretty quickly, at least in summer league. But some of these moves aren’t even moves that bigs in the NBA today can execute. Okafor in special, and he’s showing us that early.
