The jokes were coming in thick and fast when the TMZ video of Jahlil Okafor punching somebody in Boston dropped for everyone to see. It was short but unequivocal, Jahlil called a random man a “broke ass n****”.
Now when I mean jokes I mean the popular one where it was the first time this season a Sixers player beat somebody. It’s not funny now but it was yesterday. Today however, Jahlil has spoken on the altercation.
“It was definitely dumb on my part and something I’m embarrassed about,” Okafor said. “We’re still dealing with the league and with the team, but I’m not happy about it at all. We’re going through the whole process of what were going to do.”
Brown said Okafor will start Friday night’s game against the Rockets and that the incident will be handled “internally” by the Sixers and the NBA after an investigation.
“People were just making fun of how we’ve been losing and I did the dumb thing and reacted to it,” Okafor said.
“It doesn’t happen often. People we’re coming at me and making fun of us for losing. I know I’m in the spotlight and I know there are people are going to try to anger you. I did the dumb thing and reacted to it. I’ll never handle it like that again.”
And do you know where I’m going to go with this? Sam Hinkie and the BS #TrustTheProcess!
Because of this long-term tanking and because of how stupidly the Sixers do business, their team is young and dumb. Their only veteran of sorts is Carl Landry, because Carl Landry is such a leader.
I’m surprised we haven’t heard more stories like this. I’m surprised that this is the only case of Philadelphia 76ers players making it worse for themselves. This whole thing is a joke, Sam Hinkie is a joke and it’s only going to get worse.
