The Boston Celtics have had one of the best offseasons in the NBA, some would say the best next to the Golden State Warriors. They looked like a darkhorse last season, possibly upsetting somebody in the process.
But now they are one of the best in the Eastern Conference. On paper, they’re battling the Toronto Raptors for 2nd in the East, just behind champions Cleveland Cavaliers of course. But Jae Crowder isn’t sweating about the Raptors, he says the team isn’t worried about Toronto.
“My guys were telling me that Bleacher Report says we’ll win 59 games,” Crowder told MassLive.com’s Tom Westerholm. “That’s a lot of wins, but I want to get past the first round of the playoffs. Two seasons in a row getting swept” (Note: The Celtics lost in six games this past year) “that’s my goal to be honest with you. I think our ceiling is the Eastern Conference Finals. Toronto is not a team we’re worried about. I think Cleveland is the top team. That’s what it comes down to.”
Well technically it does matter because you could possibly meet them in the Playoffs. You never know, maybe another team will have a surge and split the two, maybe Toronto or Boston aren’t the top 3 teams we thought. So completely dismissing them is wrong. Toronto will definitely feel some type of way about this.
