If there’s anything Jaden Smith has inherited from his father, it’s his work ethic. As an actor and musician, Smith had managed to stay busy since the release of his debut studio album. Smith has made a push on the big screen with a great performance in Skate Kitchen and he has re-released an electric version of his debut album. Most recently, Smith turned heads with a great performance on Young Thug’s On The Run project.
As his father brought in his fiftieth birthday, Smith thought it would be good to capitalize off of his recent buzz. This week, Smith hopped back in the booth to give fans a new solo track called “Back On My Sh*t”. On the track, Smith raps, “I think I’m done with the flexing. This is a different direction. This is the next generation collection. I just hope you get the message.”
Before debuting the record on Beats One Radio, Smith told Zane Lowe that the single was inspired by his film, Skate Kitchen. Smith said, “It’s about a female crew of skaters that are trying to find themselves, but they realize that their crew is the only thing that really helps them go through the city and feel like they are apart of something.”
