According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, Jacque Vaughn will be rejoining the San Antonio Spurs in a player-personnel role in the upcoming season.
Vaughn, who served as an assistant to Gregg Popovich from 2010-12 (and played under him from 2006-2009) previously served as the head coach of the Orlando Magic. In just over two years of leading the rebuilding effort in Orlando, Vaughn accumulated a 58-158 record. The Magic were not pleased with the direction of the rebuild and as such, he was fired midway through the last season.
In his new reported role, Vaughn will not be sitting on the bench during Spurs’ games. Should a current assistant coach move on sometime in the future, Vaughn would perhaps be among the first candidates to replace him.
