Celebrating its 55th anniversary, the Jack & Jill of America Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to improving marginalized communities. To achieve their ultimate goal of building healthier, vibrant Black communities, the foundation has reportedly granted more than $445,000 to 65 cause-based individuals and organizations.
Within the last year, Jack & Jill of the American Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Young Women’s Preparatory Network. The grant will support the network’s To and Through College Path, a program focused on helping students attain a college degree. Additionally, the foundation has donated more than $60,000 to the United Negro College Fund, $10,000 to Greene Scholars and $25,000 to the National CARES Mentoring Movement.
“We invest in services, programs and organizations that focus on impacting the underlying issues affecting African American children and families,” Jack & Jill of America Foundation Executive Director Pier Blake said.
“Our goal is to change the landscape, so that children in underserved communities are afforded opportunities by removing inequities.”
Moving forward, the foundation has partnered with Natural Grocers, a national neighborhood organic grocery chain. Through this partnership, National Grocers has donated 1% of its sales every Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Just last month, the national chain is believed to have raised more than $33,000 for the JJ College GAP Fund.
