Sometimes, the best tracks are the shortest. If you’re a fan of Wale’s “Dearly Beloved” or “Pop” by Ari Lennox, you already know this. However, Ari Lennox and Wale are not the only artists out of the DMV known for packing a punch in a song under 150 seconds.
PG County’s Jabari Banks knows a thing or two about that as well, and his single, “Eastside bb,” is a perfect example. Clocking in at just 108 seconds, the Sean Will Beatz-produced track is an alluring and seductive track that sounds like a 3 a.m. link-up. Banks drives this idea home further with his newly-released “Eastside bb” visual that takes him out of pristine Bel-Air and puts him back in a private function with a couple of dollar bills and a few dancers.
“I wanna see your freak side, baby, huh / Say you came from the Eastside, baby, Eastside, baby,” he sings. “Big booty, it’s a fee-fi, baby/I wanna see that freak side, baby, freak side, baby.”
“Eastside bb” sets the stage for Jabari Banks’ new EP, ULTRA. Building upon the momentum of his singles, “Weekend Drive” and “Something Else,” the eight-track EP formally introduces Banks, not as an actor, but as a singer and songwriter.
