The Memphis Grizzlies have announced that star point guard Ja Morant will be away from the team for at least the next two games. This comes during yet another controversy that the star point guard finds himself in that includes an NBA investigation. This time the star point guard appeared to show a gun in a nightclub while he was on his Instagram Live early Saturday morning. The ongoing Morant saga has been concerning and the NBA will fully investigate this incident. Memphis was careful to not call this two-game absence a suspension.

NBA Spokesman Mike Bass released the following statement about Ja Morant and the video: “We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating.” With the recent off-court issues with the point guard, it has become a clear distraction from his play on the court. With Memphis in a position for a top seed in the Western Conference, both the team and the NBA will want to quickly address this.
The Memphis Grizzlies are currently the two seed in the Western Conference Standings with an overall record of 38-24. This season Ja Morant is averaging 27.1 points, 6.0 rebounds, 8.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. He has paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 46.3 percent and a three-point percentage of 31.6 percent. This story will continue to develop and Def Pen Sports will continue to report on it.
