As quiet as it has been kept, Jay Rock’s Redemption is one of the best rap albums released this year. Caught in the background of Nasir and Everything Is Love, Redemption delivered records like “Wow”, “Win”, “The Bloodiest” and “Tap Out”. Patrick Lyons of Hot New Hip-Hop writes, “He’s at least proven that everyone responsible for stalling his career is a damn fool. The world deserves to hear him continue to grow into Watts’ leading social and cultural critic.”
This week, the California native released his second video following the album’s release. In the video for Jay Rock’s “OSOM”, Rock and Cole perform a robbery early on and spend the rest of the day paranoid. While Rock and Cole spend the day looking over their shoulder, Cole notices a strange Cadillac following him throughout the day. As the video comes to a close, Rock and Cole are confronted with the karma of their actions.
The video is the third off of Jay Rock’s new project. Fresh off of The Championship Tour, Jay Rock’s Redemption is on pace to land at number three on the U.S. Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B Charts. Jay Rock appears to have moved anywhere from 24,000 to 27,000 units during his first week.
Stay tuned to see if Rock will return to the road in the near future for the Redemption tour.
