Recent studies have shown that the human attention span has fallen from 12 seconds to eight seconds over the last 20 years. Thankfully, Ivorian Doll doesn’t need 12 or eight seconds to grab someone’s attention. With the “Bow Down” video, she does that instantly. From the visual’s opening moments, director Kevin Hudson provides three different extravagant looks at the rising star before she takes control and busts through the production with the uber-confident opening line.
“They don’t want no drama with the young Barbie/Pull up with the Dollz, we come like an army/Big noise, vroom like a ‘Rari/I’m in big drip, Fendi and Carti,” she raps.
If she wanted to stop rapping after delivering those first few bars, she would have already had done enough to get fans to press the replay button. However, she’s generous enough with her talents that she delivered an entire track. Throughout the video, stylist Kiera Liberati proves why she is one of the best in the business. Ivorian Doll moves from donning a black and white dress to being draped in nothing but fur as she lays elegantly on a red velvet couch. All the while, the rising star delivers bar after bar after bar.
“I been runnin’ through this bag like it’s track and field/Only fuckin’ with them n*ggas got them racks for real/Too much money on a b*tch, gotta be strapped for real/If he broke, he ain’t no option, gotta play the field.”
From director Kevin Hudson down to production runner Joshua Simpson, everyone clearly understood the assignment. If you don’t believe me, check out “Bow Down” below.
