When music fans think about Brooklyn Hip-Hop, Jay-Z is the first name that comes to mind. Understandably, he’s one of the greatest MCs to ever pick up a microphone. With that said, Brooklyn has a more diverse sound than it’s often given credit for having. The same borough that gave the world Boby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel also gave the world Joey Bada$$ and Kota The Friend. Not to mention, artists like H-D and HDBeenDope have popped up in recent years. Simply put, Brooklyn Hip-Hop doesn’t have to sound like one thing or follow one trend.
Bedstuy’s History is adding his own style to the historic borough. Connecting with Iso Indies out of Brooklyn, the trio floats over the lively production on their new single, “Act Up.”
“They want me to act up/I’ll get you packed up/Riding around, sh*t can get backed up/Trying to attack us?/Then we huntin’ you down/My n*ggas running you down/Give a word or sound and n*ggas be out/GPS down to your house/ I got Pitbulls and I’m letting ’em out,” History opens the record.
“Act Up” follows up the duo’s 2020 project, Dynamic Duo. Led by the seven-track album, the Brooklyn group brought in 2.5 million streams across more than 90 countries last year. With their new single and video, the group is looking to take things to the next level in 2021. Check out the “Act Up” video with History below.
