There should be a minimal amount of empathy towards Isaiah Thomas WILLINGLY going to a team in the Phoenix Suns with 2 already established points guards in Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic taking a bulk of the back court minutes. For some reason though, Thomas believed that his minutes wouldn’t go down and that he would have an increased work load for the Suns.
Thomas expressed his slight displeasure to James Herbert of CBSSports.com.
“It’s a tough situation,” Thomas said. “But you’ve just got to be ready for whatever circumstances coach puts you in. You gotta be ready when your name is called, but I’m not going to sugarcoat it. It’s tough.
“It’s not what I expected,” Thomas continued. “But coach has a tough job. Putting all of us on the floor and trying to mix up the minutes, it’s tough for him. So it’s not just tough for us as players, we just gotta be ready when our name’s called and just know, I mean, coach is trying to do what he thinks is best for the team to put us in a position to win. But the key word is it’s a tough situation. For all of us.”
As hip-hop legend Ed Lover says, “CMON SON”! You HAD to know it would be kind of like this Isaiah. Thomas is uber-confident and he talks a big game and loves backing it up. He’s had a solid season so far, playing 23.6 minutes per game, averaging 15.5 with 4 assists but all off the bench as he has 0 starts this year. For coach Jeff Hornacek, as they say, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” and this formula is working for the Suns.
Coming from the Kings in which last season he averaged 34.7 minutes per game and was in the starting lineup for 54 of his 72 appearances, you can kind-of feel his pain.
