There are some players where you can visibly see their hustle, their hunger and their drive. Where they’ve had all the challenges thrown at them but continue to earn their accolades.
Isaiah Thomas holds all those traits. From being ‘Mr Irrelevant’ to an All-Star. The first player to be picked last in his respective Draft and get an All-Star nod, the man is a beast and nobody deserves it more.
But he isn’t stopping here, he still has the hunger.
“I asked myself [Thursday], ‘What can they say now?’ But they’ll find something,” said Thomas. “I mean, If they talk bad about Kobe [Bryant] and those types of guys, I’m not close to as good as them, so they’ll find something. But it’s not about them right now. I’m just enjoying the moment and I’m excited about what happened [Thursday] night.”
“[Stevens] said, ‘Now the good thing about this is something else needs to motivate you. You need to take your game to a higher level,’” he said. “That’s what I have planned anyway.”
“Oh no, no,” Thomas said. “We’re trying to get more. Never satisfied, but definitely trying to get more.“
This is why I love an athletes’ drive, the feeling of succeeding but never being complacent. It’s something that’s essential to survive in the sports world and I think it’s essential in life. I mean, if you aren’t constantly grinding, there’s someone out there that’s trying harder to take your place.
