After a valiant effort put together, the Boston Celtics were eliminated by the Cleveland Cavaliers 135-102 in game 5 of the Conference Finals. Unfortunately, the Celtics were without their All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas for most of the series, who was ruled out after game 2 after a nagging hip injury.
Thomas was the catalyst for the Celtics for most of the season averaging 28.9 points, 5.9 assists, shot a career-high 46.3 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from behind the three-point line. Along with these regular season stats, Thomas put together an inspiring playoff run as well.
In his final press conference, Thomas addressed his hip injury, when he hopes to return and getting back to playing at an MVP level.
Following from CLNS Radio.
“The plan is to play ’til 40, and all them doctors know that.
“So whatever they got to do to help me to play not just at a normal level, at an MVP level.
“That’s been what I’ve been on them doctors and that training staff about is: No matter what happens, let’s make sure I come back even better. And I will.”
