Boston Celtics fans now have another reason to praise Isaiah Thomas.
Most NBA players crave the opportunity to earn more money from their teams whenever the chance arrives. But, Isaiah is in the small majority and actually has the Celtics best interest in mind.
Per ESPN, Thomas would wait until the Summer of 2018 for a new contract if that helps the C’s improve in the short-term. Thomas is ready to take this team to the NBA Finals, and if he has to sacrifice a new contract to achieve that, then so be it.
“We need the best possible player that’s gonna help us win, and I’m with that,” Thomas said. “Anything Danny and this organization need me to do to help bring even more talent to this city, I’m all for that. I want to win a championship and being so close to getting to the Finals, that makes you want it that much more.”
Thomas, reportedly, has not recruited any upcoming free agents to join the C’s squad for the upcoming season. Although, considering all of the rumors surrounding Boston and Gordan Hayward, Isaiah, in addition to Brad Stevens, will have a big role in bringing Hayward to Boston.
After Thomas’ abrupt exit from the series against Cleveland, he has to be anticipating his next return to the court. If he can walk onto the court next season alongside another superstar, he will be ready to cause major mayhem in the league.
