Mark Cuban went on somewhat of a tangent about Donald Sterling and his privately recorded racists remarks. Check out the interview he had with Inc Magazine.
Let’s be very real.
What Cuban said, although not worded the best, wasn’t far-fetched from reality. The majority of the public act like racism doesn’t exist or they teach their children to not see color.
No, SEE color!
Our race is what defines us, but it doesn’t define us. Every race and/or culture has its bigots. What I’m speaking on is the manner on which it’s handled.
Racism is embedded in all parts of the globe; whether you want to hide those thoughts or reveal them, they’re still there. People may not be racist inherently, but judgmental thoughts tend to crip-walk across your mind. These thoughts only peruse your mind because of stereotypes and media hype.
There is a reason they exist; idiots in every race fulfill the quota of idiocy needed to survive.
Personally, I’m not racist; I have an assorted group of friends that vary from black all the way to every country in Asia. However, we all have moments where we feel intimidated due to stereotypes that we see in movies, news, basic TV, and, hell, reality. Racism lays dormant in everyone, but most don’t act, we pre-judge and take it from there.
Do I feel Cuban is wrong with his feelings? Hell no. There are plenty of times I’ve walked in Harlem or Bed-Stuy and looked over my back to make sure someone isn’t plotting. Criminals come in all shapes, sizes, and races; that’s where Cuban dropped the ball by mentioning someone in a “hoodie” and someone with a “face full of tattoos” is a threat.
You may not agree with Mark Cuban, but I do respect his honesty, and he wasn’t speaking on anything new; he just spoke and everyone acted like it was new.
