According to iFun, the fifth beta of iOS 6.1 Gold Master is very nearly ready to be released to developers and from there, to customers. The internally tested software is expected to be released to developers on January 18th. iOS beta 4 had been previously released to developers on December 17th. Included in iOS 6.1 for developers is an enhanced Map Kit framework. This allows third-party apps to search for map-based addresses based on points of interest. This update also includes Siri improvements and new iCloud security features that are prompted when a user starts up their device for the first time. iOS 6.1 is said to be the final significant update to Apple’s mobile operating system until June.
