Former undisputed bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue will meet unified super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton Jr. in Yokohama, Japan on ESPN+ for one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The main event will stream live on ESPN+ on May 7, 2023.
Fulton Jr. enters the bout with a perfect record of 21-0 with eight knockouts. The Philadelphia native beat Paulus Ambunda in 2019 to pick up his first world title and has not looked back since. Since then, he’s beaten Angelo Leo and Brandon Figueroa to pick up two more world titles. The super bantamweight champion last fought in June 2022, beating Daniel Roman by unanimous decision.
Fulton Jr.’s opponent, Naoya Inoue, is identified by many as one of the hardest punchers in the sport and one of the best pound-for-pound fighters today. With a record of 24-0 with 21 knockouts, the Japanese fighter has picked up titles in three different weight classes en route to the top of the sport. Most recently, he stopped Paul Butler in the 11th round to claim the undisputed bantamweight championship.
With a combined record of 45-0 and championships in four different weight classes, Fulton Jr. and Inoue will meet for one of the best events in boxing on the calendar in 2023.
