When the Indiana Pacers faced off with the New York Knicks last night, it wasn’t just any regular easy win in New York. The Pacers were in the middle of some controversy with one of their players, Chris Copeland, recently involved with an issue outside of a New York night club.
Copeland and a female companion were involved in an altercation with a third-party that ended up with Copeland being stabbed outside of a club late on Tuesday night. Atlanta Hawks players Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha were arrested for their involvement around the incident ‘obstructing justice’ at the crime scene.
The story still has yet to completely unravel but there was a sign of some solidarity and hope from some of Copeland’s Pacer teammates.
Their star, Paul George, who was playing in his second game back this season, and forward Solomon Hill wore headbands during the game. Copeland was known around the league and on his team to always wear a headband and the players paid tribute in wishing their fallen teammate well.
