Lin-Manuel Miranda has hinted that the film adaptation of In The Heights could be released later than originally expected. During an appearance on Rosie O’Donnell’s live stream talk show, he noted that “a lot has to be done” involving the film. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has halted work on many films including his.
“We were literally recording the score when all of this started happening,” Miranda said.
“There’s a lot that remains to be done on that movie. We were finishing the score and the mixing and just getting the music exactly right,” he continued.
“I’m really hopeful that that’s something we all get to watch in the theaters together — when it’s time, and no sooner, to go out,” he added.
In The Heights is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2020. However, post-production has been suspended for the time being. In addition, three of nation’s largest movie theater chains have closed their doors indefinitely. At the moment, it’s unclear if there is enough time for Miranda and his team to get the film finished for a June release.
