There’s something about LeBron James-led teams, the NBA finals, and cramps. When James was with the Heat in 2014, he cramped up and had to leave game 1 early. In the 2015 finals, James’ teammate Matthew Dellavedova cramped up and was taken to a hospital following game 3. After game 2 on Sunday, a different Cavaliers guard had the same issue: Iman Shumpert. From ESPN’s Dave McMenamin:
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert experienced cramping in the second half of the Cavs’ 132-113 Game 2 loss to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals on Sunday and required intravenous fluids after the game, a team source told ESPN.
Shumpert scored six points on just 1-6 shooting off the bench but played sound defense (a rarity on this Cavs team). He may start over J.R. Smith, who has been ineffective thus far in the finals; through two games, Smith has scored three total points on 1-6 shooting, and has turned the ball over three times without recording an assist, a block or a steal.
